This pic depicts a Nigerian ECOWAS(Economic Community of West African States)peacekeeper on duty in Monrovia, Liberia, during the last gasps of the Liberian Civil War, which, unlike in the caption accompanying another Liberian-themed pic posted earlier, lasted, in fits and starts, from 1989, when it began as a revolt against the then-dictator of Liberia, Sergeant Samuel Doe, to 2003, when Charles Taylor, Liberia's then-President and leader of the faction that had overthrown Doe and won the Liberian Civil War in 1997, was forced out of office by new revolts inside Liberia, and international pressure.
