This pic is a black-and-white version of a colour pic I did devoted to the Eastern Front during World War Two nearly two years ago, which you can see immediately below this 'un. Added some sharpening and film grain to this version, and it amazed me that, just by whitening some areas of the pic, it rather changed the time of year in it from either Spring or late Summer, to late Autumn or Winter, and gave it a greater sense of authenticity than the original otherwise had. Yeah, some details found in the original are lost here, but, on the other hand, I think it looks a lot closer to the kinds of imagery that were found in Allied newspapers, magazines and news-reels of the period.
